‘He really sounds like your gay hairdresser, although your hairdresser keeps his shirt on while working’, my s/o said
Anyway, the Russians won this ‘European’ quality song contest tonight. Having expected an avalanche of utterly trashy songs, it’s hard to believe this event once launched the carriers of Abba and Celine Dion. Some former Soviet countries sent half-naked, visually wild Barbie dolls with peroxided hair, bleached teeth, fake boobs and a dark spray-on suntan, with nothing worth remembering musically. Most Belgian commenters felt it was basically time to say goodbye to what has become the most campy musical show on the planet. But rest assured, this show will go on: camp has become the crowd-pulling hallmark of the current [YouTube:] Eurovision Song Contest. “See you next year in Moscow!”

The thought crossed my mind as well that he was gay.
Didn’t you like Iceland though? They even had pink shirts. lol
It’s been one of the best contests in a whole long while. The three barbie dolls had decent pop songs, I adore the one from Armenia. Isreal’s one was very good too. Norway was a nice classic song. And best thing yet, Poland finish last, and that’s a first a non-West-European country ends up there. However, it should’ve been Germany, geesh, my ex-cat could’ve done a better job.
[Blog author comment: "The Antwerp gay bars had the contest on huge screens Manic, and yes, many believed the Russian singer 'appeared gay', although appearances can be very deceiving. I totally agree some of the most exuberant Barbies had stunning voices, with amazing contrasts between the competing countries. Germany was pretty awful indeed, but hey, they only sound really great when they produce heimat-music

There WERE some good songs – France, Germany, Ukraine, UK and more. But the political and geographical voting takes away from these good songs and make a mockery and a lottery of the show. It needs to change or it will die.
[Blog author comment: "Indeed John: the political and geographical voting has turned this show in a pathetic travesty, no matter how good some songs there may have been."]
…….and here I thought there was nothing worse than American Idol…….Is it even worth the time to YouTube any of it to see just how bad it is?
[Blog author comment: "I would definitely check it out: you'll get a free culture shock along the way:
